Sunday, June 28 Potsdam

We boarded the bus early for our trip to Potsdam where the choir participated in the Liturgy. On the way to Potsdam, which was actually a part of West Berlin, we crossed over the bridge where spies were traded off after WWII.

After the service and a short concert we had lunch and explored historic Potsdam.

Some of the men of the choir checked out the sights in Potsdam and decided that they had the cutest waitresses (they say photos not available….).

The weather is getting warmer – it has been sweater weather – and we enjoyed a warm, sunny afternoon.

The choir participated in the Liturgy at the beautiful Kaiser Wilhelm Cathedral, a newer cathedral built after the existing cathedral was bombed. The old cathedral has been left in place as a reminder of the war. The sermon was of course in German, and though it was apparently a fascinating lecture from a premier theologian (according to our guide), many of us found it difficult to stay awake during the forty minute soliloquy. Apparently it was a good thing that the choir performed from the choir loft as many singers took this opportunity to catch a much-needed nap.
